Criminal Justice Minister Paul Goggins MP has praised the work of a unique organisation in Northern Ireland that offers support to families bereaved by murder or manslaughter. The Minister was in Antrim this morning for the official launch of Support after Murder and Manslaughter Northern Ireland (SAMM NI) here he met volunteers and members who offer both emotional and practical support based on their own similar experiences.
Paul Goggins said: “The loss of a loved one is heartbreaking and this is even greater when that loss is the result of murder or manslaughter. Vital support can help families and individuals cope with the sudden and violent death of a loved one and guide them through the criminal justice system. “SAMM NI is already making a real difference. Through its close partnership with other voluntary organisations such as Victim Support NI and with the statutory agencies they are offering practical and direct help.
