I am absolutely delighted to be part of the SAMM community as CEO. Support for the traumatically bereaved is a subject close to my heart and I feel incredibly passionate about getting it right. Having dedicated the last 10 years of my life to supporting the bereaved, I consider it both an honour and a privilege to be able to continue this invaluable work at SAMM.
Having previously worked for Victim Support as Homicide Regional Manager for London, I’ve coordinated support for families bereaved by homicide as well as those affected in the 2017 terror attacks. As a result of my work I’ve delivered training to many different child protection and criminal justice agencies across the UK.
My own lived experience continues to fuel my drive and passion to help others, as my own son was killed in 2008. Shortly after my son’s death I realised how impactful and life changing it was to talk to others with similar experiences. I contacted SAMM and it was a relief to know there were others who really understood my pain. This made a world of difference to me. I don’t think I would be as strong as I am today without the support I received from SAMM.
