SAMM (Support after Murder and Manslaughter) is a registered charity offering support to those bereaved by murder or manslaughter.
SAMM started as Parents of Murdered Children (POMC) within The Compassionate Friends and became an independent charity in 1988. POMC changed its name to SAMM in 1992, reflecting the fact that whole families and the wider community need support following a murder.
Since 2013 we’ve held a rolling membership of 4,000, evidencing the need for long term/lifelong support.
SAMM is one of the oldest and most established charities working in the field of traumatic bereavement and is one of the only charities providing national coverage in this field.
