Julie Jones will be taking on the Dartmoor Ultramarathon on 5th June 2021 to raise money for SAMM. She is completing the challenge in memory of her daughter Joanna who was murdered 15 years ago this year.
On her fundraising page Julie says: “My beautiful daughter Joanna was murdered 15yrs ago this year. She was 20yrs old and kind and funny and very clever and I miss her every day. Last year I joined this amazing charity SAMM (Support After Murder and Manslaughter) and have met other parents and relatives who have shared their experiences with me and are helping me so much.
So when my friend Alex asked me to run the Dartmoor Discovery again this year – the UK’s longest single lap road ultra marathon, 32miles with 4000ft of elevation up on Dartmoor – I agreed, if we could also try and raise some money for SAMM. So we have also signed up Amy and now we are a team of 3, all training alone in different parts of the country, just looking forward to that Devon Cider at the finish in Princetown!
If you can spare a little something to support us and SAMM we would really appreciate it and we will keep you updated with photos 🙂 Thank you.”
